Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)
Introduction
The Government of India launched the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) in the year 1970. One of the primary objectives of the programme is to upgrade the expertise and capabilities of faculty members serving in degree and diploma level institutions across the country.
The programme is implemented and monitored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Under the Quality Improvement Programme, only sponsored teachers are eligible for admission to both Master’s and Doctoral Degree programmes. The scheme aims to enable teachers to pursue higher education, develop a strong research culture, and enhance their teaching capabilities by exposing them to the academic and research environment of premier institutes.
