Heartiest congratulations to all the graduating students of IIT Mandi, and to your parents, professors, and mentors who have been an integral part of this remarkable journey.

Today, you leave this institution with a world-class education, but more importantly, with the ability to solve problems, create value, and shape the future. As you step into the next chapter of your lives, remember that success is not defined by how high you rise, but by the impact you create along the way.

The world you are entering is changing faster than ever before. Technology, AI, and innovation will continue to transform industries, but qualities such as integrity, resilience, curiosity, and the willingness to learn will always remain timeless.

Do not be afraid to dream big. Take risks. Embrace challenges. Failure is not the opposite of success, it is often the pathway to it.

India stands at a defining moment of growth and opportunity. I encourage each one of you to contribute not just to your own success, but to the progress of our nation and society.

The future belongs to those who create it. I am confident that each one of you will go on to make a meaningful difference.

Prof. Kamakoti Veezhinathan received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Madras. He joined the faculty of IIT Madras in 2001 and took over as its Director in January 2022.
He specializes in the area of Computer Architecture, Information Security and VLSI Design. He heads the Microprocessor Development Program and the Information Security Education and Awareness Program at IIT Madras funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. He is member of the National Security Advisory Board. He was also the Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Task Force constituted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. He is appointed as member of the institute body of AIIMS, Madurai. At IIT Madras, he has served as the Chairman, JEE and as Associate Dean, Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research.
He has over 150 publications in International Journals and Conferences, guided many research scholars for their PhD and Master of Science (By research) program. He has coordinated and successfully delivered close to 50 projects from Industry and Government R&D establishments. He serves in the Technology committees of the National Stock Exchange and Reserve Bank of India.
Dr. Kamakoti is the recipient of DRDO Academic Excellence Award, Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association Techno Visionary Award, 'Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship', ACCS Life-time Achievement Award, IBM Faculty Award VASVIK Industrial Research award, Fellow of INAE. He has been chosen for the award of the Padma Shri in 2026.

Dear Graduating Students, Faculty Members, Parents, and Distinguished Guests,

It is a privilege to be part of the 14th Convocation of IIT Mandi and to celebrate this important milestone with all of you. Today marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and learning, and the beginning of a new journey filled with opportunities and responsibilities.

As you step into the next phase of your careers, remember that the true value of education lies not only in acquiring knowledge but also in using it to solve meaningful problems and contribute positively to society. The world faces significant challenges in sustainability, energy, healthcare, and technology, and I am confident that IIT Mandi graduates are well equipped to address them with innovation, integrity, and compassion.

I encourage you to remain curious, embrace lifelong learning, and never hesitate to take on difficult challenges. Success is not defined solely by professional achievements but also by the impact you create in the lives of others.

My heartfelt congratulations to all graduating students, and my sincere appreciation to the faculty, staff, and families whose support has made this achievement possible. I wish each one of you a future filled with purpose, excellence, and meaningful contributions to our nation and the world.

Prof. Rangan Banerjee is the Director of IIT Delhi since 2022. He has been responsible for initiating the first international campus of IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi.

He has more than 30 years of experience in teaching and research. He has been responsible for setting up a new Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay in 2007 and was its first Head.

He was the Dean (R&D) at IIT Bombay and was responsible for several new initiatives for research infrastructure, industry consortia and centres, technology transfer and licensing, and supporting student research.

He has been involved in several projects for industry on energy efficiency, renewables and modelling. He was involved in setting up a Megawatt Scale Solar Thermal Power Plant cum test Facility sponsored by the Indian Govt.

He was the faculty of Team Shunya – a student team that represented India in Solar Decathlon Europe, China and the US and built houses running on solar energy.

He was a lead author of the Global Energy Assessment coordinated by the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis and was a member of the International Review Committee for the RCUK Review of UK’s Energy programme.

He has been awarded the excellence in Teaching award at IIT Bombay and is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.

He has also been an Adjunct Professor (Honorary) in the department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University.
