Dress Code for 14th Convocation

Dress Code for Convocation

IIT Mandi’s convocation attire reflects its location in the Himalayan region. It consists of a formal Indian attire in white/off-white (Kurta-Pyjama/Salwar-Kurta/Saree) with formal footwear and a Himachali shawl and cap for the graduating students.

The patti (woven border) on the shawl and the cap is designed especially for IIT Mandi. The patti is woven in three colours reflecting the colours of the IIT Mandi logo: green, blue and orange. Green symbolizes vegetation and mountains, blue symbolises rivers and limitless sky, and orange symbolises paths and energy. The zig-zag pattern is typical of the region. The base colour of the shawl for the 13th convocation is golden yellow for all graduating students.
